I will only allow the following PC races in my games. I have also added Halflings and sub-species lists to make them more detailed. They list where they are found in certain regions (N,E,S,W) of the world as well as heights and life spans.
1. Humans: come from all over the world and tend to be darker skinned from the southern regions and pale skinned in the northerly regions. Otherwise they are identicle.
Life span 60-90 years, Average hieght 4'5"-7'2"
2. Dwarfs: There are three races of Dwarfs depending on the region they originate from. Life Span 300-400 years, Average hieght 3'6"-4'10"
A. Mountain Dwarfs; By far the most common, they are found in all regions except the West where they were all wiped out or forced to move. They live inside mountains and are typical of the common dwarf that people hear about.
B. Barbarian Dwarfs; This clan of Dwarfs live only in the great Northern mountain regions. They are brutal warriors and less sophisticated then their Moutain brothers. While some live in mountain towns, most live just outside in the hill country.
C. Gulley Dwarfs; Found in Human cities throughout the East and West, Gulley Dwarfs are pests and thieves. Living off scraps of city folk they tend to make burrows alongside sewer systems of in low hills outside of communities. These sad creatures hardley resemble the proud race they belong to.
3. Elves: As the oldest race there are many offshoots of Elves. From pale skinned to ebony black, Elves can be found anywhere. Life Span 500-600 years though some have lived hundreds more, Average hieght 5'-6'6"
A. High Elf; The high Elf or 'True' Elf as some call them can be found in all four corners of the world. They are the most sophisticated and most common. These are the Elves responsable for the great Elven and Dwarf war.
B. Wood Elf; The wood elves left the great Elven cities in order to get back to nature. Considered mysterious and reclusive by other races wood Elves tend to stay to themselves. They can be found in forrests world wide.
C. Dark Elf; Like the Wood elf the Dark Elf left the great cities of the high but went a different route. They went underground. Their ebony black skin and white hair mark them as evil or unlucky to other races and tend to be pursecuted needlessly. They are infact just another people who for the most part have become embittered by such persecutions and are therefor standoffish and sometimes paranoid. They are found mostly to the south and North were populations of other races are thinner.
D. Sea Elves; This almost mythical Elf is so rarely seen as to be non-existant. Legand has it that a group of Elves in love with the sea, built huge, white gallions and sailed away to white shores of a distant land. Sailors to this day swear of Sea elf sightings in the Oceans of the East.
4. Halflings: Little folk. These jolly, free spirited humanoids resemble humans with short pointed ears and furry feet. They can be found in lush areas of the east and south. They tend to live 150-200 years of age and range from 2'8"-3'10" tall.
A. Hobbits; Hobbits are the most common of Halfling, living in the Eastern territories. Food and drink is their passion. They tend to live life to the fullest but prefer simple lives. Living in houses built out of the earth they can see well in the dark.
B. Tall Fellows: The tallest of the Halfling race, they prefer to live in human settlements. More curious of the world then Hobbits, tallfellows can be seen wandering the world over.
C. Wild Halflings: Sometimes called pigmies these halflings are primative and savage. Living in the Jungles of the South they can blend with nature and live off the land easily. They tend to live in small tribes of no more than 40 members and are untrusting of 'big' races. Once trust is obtained however a Wild Halfling can be a great and loyal allie.
5.Gnomes: Are incredibley adaptable and are classified by what terrain they live in. Gnomes can thrive just about anywhere and would have, if 85% of the population wasn't wiped out in the Elf & Dwarf war. Standing a mere 2'-2'6" they can live anywhere from 250-300 years of age.
A. Prairie Gnome: The most common of Gnomes, they tend to live in human settlements or small Gnomish farming communities.
B. Wood Gnome: Though rare they can be found in forests world wide. Tiny even by Gnome standards they are almost impossable to find if they don't wish to be seen.
C. Mountain Gnome: Mostly seen by Dwarf communities or isolated human villages, these Gnomes have stuck with their subterrainian roots and live in clans under mountains or in hill burrows. Moutain Gnomes make up perhaps 3/4th of the world population of Gnomes but are not as social with other races as prarie gnomes are. They look identicle however and are often mistaken for prairie gnomes.
