Talking to anyone in Garrotten can reveal the following gossip and information about the little towns favorite watering hole.
This little tavern offers drinks and food to locals and travelers alike. The Griffin is not as upscale as the Inn but carries better food and drinks. The Tavern has contacts with river traders and has constant supply shipments, sometimes weekly. The Drunken Griffin has no rooms for rent and people are packed in like Tuna in a fisherman's net while occupying the mere fifty feet of space. There are three small wooden tables but are almost always occupied by locals. Most patrons just stand at the bar that runs the entire back wall. Stools would just get in the way. Ishmael the bartender and owner of the Drunken Griffin is an ex-sailor and loves to gossip and listen to adventures as he serves his patrons.
If its peek drinking hours or around lunch or dinner even the bar is impossible to approach. At these times just getting in the door is an adventure. First one must get past either Gorcheck or Hobb the doormen. The early shift and lunch is Gorchecks job to take care of rowdy customers, make sure not too many people enter the Tavern at a time and basically keep the peace. He is a brutish Orc, slave belonging to Ishmael and some say he once ate a river-man who stopped through one day and caused to much trouble. Hobb is an ex-Gladiator Ogre who was bought by Ishmael a decade ago in the Capital city of Credia. This mountain of flesh takes over for Gorcheck just after lunch and keeps things civil until closing time. Hobb is a huge show off and prefers to deal with trouble makers in a very public display of pain and misery. Anytime Hobb begins giving lessons in manners is a great opportunity to get a table or place at the bar as just about everyone circles around to cheer the Ogre on outside. Betting on these events are feverish ranging from the amount of time his opponent can stay standing to what way Hobb will cripple him.
If one can not reach the bar or even get in for that matter, service to the patrons is provided by Ishmael's three lovely daughters. Cheska, Salima and Ruby are blonde, well endowed triplets who are an attraction by themselves. They sing songs during slow hours and days and serve the patrons when its to busy for Papa Ishmael. One or two of the flirty ladies can usually be found serving the patrons outside or attempting to get people to come in. It is rumored that one of the women can be 'approached' for some personal tending. However, it is common knowledge that if either of the other sisters are asked by mistake then Gorcheck and Hobb have standing orders to do away with the mistaken individual any way they please. Ironically Ismael can't tell his daughters apart and cannot ascertain the validity of this vicious rumor upon his family. The three sisters are very close friends and often play in typical role changing games with each other.
