Lord Kursaville extended his hand to the older halfling, "Sir, my name is Lord Kursaville and I am a new Constable here in Garrotten. I was hoping I might be able to have a word with Jhessils if I may."

"Thats me. I run this shop from Sun up to Sun down, every day. I'm a bit busy, we'll have to talk while I work." Jhessil heads for his counter to collect payment for two blankets and some food stuffs an elf maid is purchasing.

Lord Kursaville tried to stay close to Jhessils as as to be able to keep his voice low, "Master Jhessils, we are conducting an investigation and we need to ask you some questions. It's merely routine. Do you know the D'encre family?"

Of course. I'm the only general store in town good man. I know everyone and everyone knows me. Well, regulars that is. Some folk don't shop here I suppose. How can I help you?" The halfling looks over to the elf maid. That will be 22 crowns my dear." The maid put the coin into Jhessil's hand and puts her belongings into a sack.

Kursaville nodded to the maid as she left, "I understand that they were in debt to you sir, could you tell me about that? How much do they owe you and what are your usual collection methods?"

"It's different for everyone. I only take tabs from loyal townsfolk. I uhh, can track them down. You for instance would have to pay me in coin because I don't know you and I can't come knocking on your door. The D'encres owe me a good sum of 268 crowns. As for collection I do things such as refuse service until the debt is payed or take things other then coin as payment. Live stock, tools, food, what ever they can afford." Jhessil walked over to a tall human farmer who was handling some farming tools. "Hello Kadis need another hoe?"
Jhessils conversation with Kadis looked as though it could go on for at least a few minutes.

Firebug stepped forward, a half step in front of Kursaville, then slid to a half step behind, "Excuse me sir but would you recieved anything in trade lately for their debt, say maybe a pitch fork for example?"

Jhessil turned half way to Firebug. "Funny you should mention that. I was discussing taking Cettes pitch fork as payment just the other day, but he came back and said it was stolen."

Kursaville perked up, "You spoke with Cettes about taking his pitch fork before it disappeared? That is very interesting since he has accused the elf Moonhaven of its theft. What would you know about the disappearance of Cette's daughter Nilla?"

"A shame, that. Its the talk of the town I'm afraid. Everyone knows about poor little Nilla. She's a good one she is. Always pretending to be on some big adventure. She helps me fold blankets and cloths sometimes for candy. Any ideas what happened to her? Folks can't decide if she was taken or run away. Personally she's to happy to be a runaway type." Jhessil convinced Kadis to buy a hoe, pitch fork as well as a scythe. Two other patrons bought supplies as well and business started to wind down. It was starting to get dark.

****The Mine****
Porthen seems to ponder Aiko's words. "Hmm, orange colored lime you say? That kind of rock is found quite deep. It definitely couldn't be mines 2 or 5. Maybe 3 but only in a limited area. The deepest mines are 1 and 4, with the elevators. I can't see how a small girl could work the controls though. As far as other ways in I guess anything is possible. Maybe someone has dug an entrance we don't know of or maybe a tremor has uncovered a new way in. We had many earth quakes over the last couple years."
"Porthen make sense." Sull commented.
"It's getting dark, Stone. If we are going to search with out the others then we should get started. We can cover more ground in pairs. We could start checking all three." Tull noted.
"Tull right." Sull nodded in agreance.
"Two groups of three." Porthen stated adamantly. "I won't let any of you wander off without Brashen or I to go with you. I suggest Mine #3. It has the least amount of area to check. We could finish that mine and still get home in time to get some sleep and start again in the morning if we don't find her."
"Two groups." Sull echoed.
"We shouldn't rule out the shafts. From what we have heard, Nilla is bright and imaginative. She may have figured out the controls. Hell, if she was abducted she wouldn't have to. Anyone could sneak in here while Porthen and the others were toiling away down in mine #5." Mason added
"Mason has good point Stone. What we do?" Sulls last comment left the group looking to Stone for guidance.

****The Mine**** " Tull, Porthen and I will search Mine 3," Stone Commands," Mason, Sull and Brashen take 4. Once we finish one mine meet the others in their mine." Stone Looks to Porthen to lead the way.

Siff spoke next is a soft voice, " Master Jhessil, we believe that she was taken against her will and is be held in, well, an underground area. Do you know anything about her disappearance that might help us to find her? Can you think of anyone who might hold a grudge against the family?"
Firebug continued, "Sir, we also believe that Nilla may have stumbled onto a real adventure during her wanderings. Other then Master Halfhelm's mine can you think of anyother caves or mines in the area where we might find orange limestone? Nilla called it gold."

Jhessil's eyes look around and whispers back to Siff and the others. "Well I can't prove it but...rumor has it that there are tunnels honey combed all through this area. Have you ever been to the Cutting Edge? That place is huge. Then there is Halfhelm's mine. He's a dwarf as well. I wouldn't doubt if they built some kind of passage leading to his shop from the mine. Makes sense in a certain light. Doesn't it?"

Firebug shook Jhessil's hand, "thank you for your time sir. We have another appointment that we really must keep. Good day to you."
Kursaville extended his hand as well, "Sir, if you should think of anything later, whether or not you think it might not be important, please visit the Constable's office."
Siff smiled and gave Jhessil a bow as the others moved past her toward the door.
Kursaville looked to the sky, "it's getting late we need to hurry to meet up with Moonhaven. Firebug, you and Siff go meet with him. I'm going to take a look at the foot print Mason found and I'll meet you at Moonhaven's house."
