"Master Thagin, it is true Mosh had a great influence in my choice to free you. I do not wish for anyone to feel that they owe any other person. Simply remember the good deeds that were done, and attempt to do two good deeds in the future for every one you have recieved. Better yet, do those two even if you have not recieved one at all!"
Talon readied his belongings for the days travels. He was not completely sure of what direction he would take, although he felt that he had to take the path of greater good.
"Thagin, I feel the greater urgency lies within your kingdom. There are more lives at stake rather than one individual that caused our friend Mosh her pain. I will be glad to travel with you my friend, and assist you where i can. I will let dear Mosh know of my decision when she returns. I will offer her any supplies I may have, and give her the option of travelling on her way, or remaining with us until we can at least find the fate of your kingdom. Does this seem reasonable?"

Thagin bows deeply to Talon. "You honor me young elf. My kingdom thanks you. Your terms are indeed exceptable."
With nothing else to do the two comrads waited for the hobbits return. Mosh came back within a reasonable time with the items she was sent to fetch.

"Mosh my friend, it seems that there is a great urgency for Thagin to return to his kingdom" Talon said with a tone of caring and concern. "I feel that I must accompany him on his journey, and that his quest is one that will require as much assistance as possible. You are more than welcome to accompany us on this trip, but I am most understanding if your situations require that you leave us. If you must go, you are welcome to most anything I have that may aid you on your trip. If you wish to stay, you have my word that as soon as Thagin has resolved his current situation, that I will do all I can to help you. Please forgive me if this decision troubles you, but I feel this is the path I must take."
As talon delivered his decision, he looked sincerely into Mosh's eyes. He made sure to explain it with as much sensitivity to her situation as possible.

Mosh seemed to struggle with her dilema. "How for away is your kingdom Lord Thagin?"
when the king responded with a weeks journey her shoulders slumped.
"I fear I must come with you even if it means returning home much later. I just can't trust the two of you to stay out of trouble without me."
And with that it was settled. Mosh handed Talon his package from Jhessil and the three discussed their traveling plans.

"Master Thagin, there are a few things we should probably discuss. First of all, what type of reception do you expect? I have a feeling that it is doubtful that you can walk back in and all will be as it was. Also, how will an Elf and a Halfling be recieved in your lands?" Said Talon.

Thagin stroked his long beard in thought. "I will answer the last question first. I will not lie to you. There are those who will feel quite hostile toward you though none shall harm you while under my protection. The elders war between our two peoples still rankles many families. Others will have a grudging respect, though they may not show it, for the part you played in my return. As for Mosh..." the dwarven king smiles. "...I believe she will be quite the new fascination among the lady folk." he chuckles. "As to our initial reception, I am loved by a great many of my people but, I have been gone long enough to have been declared dead. My brethren do not like to be leaderless and by now my Kingdom has probably been given to another. My son's whiskers are to short for him to rule so, any one of my three cousins may have usurped my throne. If I am lucky, very lucky then the council of twelve has been unable to agree on my successor and we will arrive in time for me to resume my duties without much contest. If however a successor has been chosen I may have to convince him to relinquish the title back to me. Worse yet one of my cousins may be contesting another's appointment already. In this case we will arrive in the middle of a conflict and most likely add to the chaos." Thagin stared at Talon for a moment before continuing. "Do you still wish to escort me home young elf?"

"These things do not bother me. I have faced discrimination in the past. I know when I must leave and when I should stand my ground." Talon stated. "I am ready for adventure. This town is beginning to bore me! Do we have all we need to get started?" Talon directed this question to both his companions. "If either of you need any equiptment, let me know and we will watch for this on our journey. " Talon readied his belongings, and quickly located his hawk Krieger taking a bath in a nearby puddle. "Too wet to fly it seems. Looks like you get a free ride!" Talon picked up Krieger, leashed him up and hooded him, and tied him to the top of the pack. "I am ready to set off when the two are you ready."

Thain kept the pace slow and steady. Talon figured it was for the halflings benefit. Still, they made good time because they were Able to follow a road till they got to the river. It was quickly determined that neither of Talon's companions could swim and a discussion about the dilemma ensued.
"Well we could head back to town and head to the docks. I'm sure their would be someone willing to ferry us across don't you think?" Mosh reasoned.
"I overheard some passers by complaining about the prices to cross the river back in town. He mentioned another spot up river to the West. We could head that way though I know not how far this 'spot' is from here." Thagin commented. "What say you elf?"

"Mosh, do we have enough rope to span this river? Ideally twice the span. I feel confident I can find a spot where I should be able to cross. If we find a narrow spot, or a spot where the water is slow, I can carry the rope with me, and tie it off on the other side. Also, Thagin, you work your way upstream for a bit, and Mosh you stay here. I will work downstream. We will leave excess gear here with Mosh. We are looking for suitable crossing, or anything that will float to aid us in crossing. Mosh, stay close, and see if we can find enough material for a makeshift raft."
Not knowing his companions capabilities, he felt this would be the safest course at the moment. Any time they could avoid unessisary contact with people would minimize any type of questions about his travelling partners.
He also hoped that they may have ideas or come up with alternate solutions. These two seemed to be way more intellegent than the average would be slave.

"Sorry my Lord. That would take much more rope then I could carry. At least at this point of the river." The halfling went on to inform the woodland elf that the river was a major artery running from the old kingdom through the northern edge of Timiro and going East for miles, cutting the Eastern Territories in half before finally vomiting out into the great sea. The river at this point was just over one hundred and fifty yards across. A raft may indeed be better though they would probably end up further down river then when they started.

"This is proving a challenge. Have either of you been this way before? Thagin, when you arrived from this direction, how did you cross?. Did either of you spot a slower spot. Wider is not a bad thing, I wish to avoid high current. Let us journey upstream together. I wish for us to walk parallel to the river, but as far apart as possible, but to where we can see the person to our side. This way we can keep our eyes on more area to spot useable items. Mosh, you stay in the middle. I will stay on the bank, there is a greater chance of coming across people there, and I do not wish to have more contact than nessisary until we get a few days away from here."

"I was a captive by then but we crossed using the ferry at town."
The companions began to walk upriver. It quickly turned to the north/West and looked as if it would curve around a small mountain and then head back South/west to come into the Town of Garrotten again. If the group were looking for a slow spot the best point looked to be at the peak of the turn where the river changed directions as well as shallowed do to the base of the mountain sloping down into the river bed. Just up the mountain side were many trees that promised a good variety of wood to be had. It was still a good distance to the other side of the river but this was the best chance they had if they wanted to avoid ferries.

Talon pondered the situation for what seemed like weeks....
"My friends, let us look for dry felled wood that would float well. Perhaps we may find enough to float our belongings on, and that we may hold onto to kick our way across. Mosh, do we have any empty wineskins or carrying sacks that may be filled with air? I wish to create a floating vest for you if possible.
If either of you feel uncomfortable with this idea, or your abilities in the water, let me know now please."

Both Mosh and Thagin replied simultainiously; "I can't swim." then looked at eachother and chuckled briefly. Mosh was first to comment on Talon's ideas. "We have three wine skins only. Our sacks are little more then burlap except for a few of the smaller ones that are animal hide."
Thagin just elaborated on his inadaquicies in the water. "Sorry Elf. I sink like a stone. The only body of water in my home is a deep, dark lake in the lower levels. Few venture there and no one swims."

Talon expected as much. It was if some greater power was controlling this adventure, and that being made sure that niether could swim. "It figures" Talon thought to himself "That the dwarven kingdom is on THAT side of the river."
"My friends, While I am ready to risk my own life, I cannot place yours in danger. " But then he thought to himself, that is what makes this life a game......
"Mosh, Thagin, what is it that you prefer? I believe we can build a suitible craft to make it across, but for safety's sake, I will not rule out crossing on a ferry. Remember however, should we be seen, you will both have to assume the role of servants once again."
Being new aquantainces, he wanted to make sure he took their concerns into account. Talon felt he must learn a bit more about each one before making decisions that may affect their welfare.
