So after 14 years of marriage my wife has agreed to high speed internet. No more dial up! Woop!!
ok so considering I never imagined getting a high speed connection I need help picking the right service plan!
Currently I have a home phone for internet and Dish Network for TV. My current Internet provider provides broadband for 12 bucks a month. I have no cable for cable modem. I don't want to get 'bundled' together with the cable company so what's a good option for me?
Any ideas? Need more info? Let me know.

I have mine through Comcast. Pretty fast, wireless, and only a few problems. I have no idea about local service out by you. What I can tell you is that you'll wonder why you waited so long. I had dial up for years and was ok with it. When I got DSL, I was floored.
There are different kind of "high speed" service. For $12/mo what is your downstream speeds? For anything really fast it can get expensive. I have something like 3Mb/s down for like $30/mo.

Well my wife is willing to spend up to 39 a month but I really don't want to go that high if I can avoid it.

I am bundled, before bundling was big and it is awesome, but I don't know how much it costs, my wife handles all the bills. I just like the fact that if my TV, phone or computer go down I just have to kick 1 company's ass. So now I can start posting videos again. Let me know when you have joined us.

sry about not posting here. Well if your not wiling to use the cable co. then your best bet is DSL and from what i have experienced you will need a new modem for high speed reguardless if you go with cable or dsl ( and from what i have talked with you about and seen here cable is out ) so in speed your going to want to get as close to 3mbps down and 1 up. from what i have seen any way. when you call verizon (if that is who you are with ) then ask them what speed you will be getting and how much for installation ( yes there is a fee for this i believe) some times you can get these things waved if you tell them it will be a deal breaker but be prepared for them to call you bluff, and if you can get a modem from them or if you have to buy one of your own . Dsl is not my specialty sry bud but I am going to help you with as much as I can. GL man keep us posted on the status
