Aiko told Mason that he had last seen the elf bowman in the keep. Mason headed that way hoping to find the elfs trail. Most of the fort was human and the few elves enlisted here wore heavy boots, while Leknora, Mason had noticed prefered soft leather.

There were to many foot prints however at the Keep entryway. With the celebration inside the area was scuffed up pretty bad even for him. He'd have to to further away from the building and see if he could pick up his trail there. The ranger scanned the area. There was a guard posted at the gate straight ahead. The stable was off to the left of the gate house. To Mason's right lay the barracks and to his immediate left was the training ground area.

Mason walks over to the guard. He steps confidently, yet quietly. " Excuse me," Mason begins," Did you see an elf leave here recently?"

The gaurd seemed nice enough. "Maybe. They look a lot like us in the dark. What was he wearing?"

" He is wearing soft leather boots," Mason begins, awkwardly," In green leathers too." Mason finds himself lost in thought. Maybe if I lead out a little, I may pick up the trail.

The sentry just stares at Mason as if he's an idiot. Before the man can comment, Mason's thoughts are interrupted by a familiar sound. Someone is firing a bow. In the dark?

" He has a bow too," Mason continues looking toward the sound, " Thank you soldier for your help." Mason patted the youth on the shoulder and darted toward the sound.

Sure enough just outside the practice range Mason could now see the longbowman launching arrows into the night. Mason couldn't see what he was firing on.

Running upto the elf the Ranger still had no idea what Leknora was shooting at. His elven eyes were just to keen. Leknora casually pulled out the last arrow from his quiver and nocked it to his bow. "Hello Mason." the elf greeted in a meloncholy voice. He lifted his bow and let the arrow fly almost immediatly.

" What is it? " Mason asked unsure what to do.

"Just practicing and it looks like you arrived just in time to help me gather my arrows." The elfs attempt at humor was a good sign thought Mason but it was quick lived. Leknora turned silent as they walked not in the diection of the way the elf was firing but, in the direction of the main gate.

" Leknora," Mason replied," Where are you going? We were worried about you." Mason actually didn't care one way or the other, but Aiko did and that was good enough for him. Aiko, is all heart and this is why Mason loved him so. Mason tries to catch up with Leknora to stop him and try to help him where ever the elf was at.

The wood elf continued to walk out the gate and loop around the fort. "Do not worry my friend. We are just going to retrieve my arrows. I could not reach them from inside the fort's walls."
The two continued in silence for a bit more. " Archery allows me to think and calm myself. I am...ashamed of my inactions in the tunnels. I'm sure you have heard." When the two wandered all the way to the far wall of the Fort closest to the archery range Mason could see a score of arrows all sticking out of the ground beneath a large birch tree. Measuring the distance the ranger quickly noted that he himself could not hope to hit anything at that range with any kind of accuracy, let alone at night and over a Fort wall.
"will you help me gather them?" without commenting Mason began to gather the arrows. After the first few he noticed that every arrow he retrieved had skewered a fresh, green birch leaf.

As Mason stared in amazement handing the arrows to Leknora," All I have heard is Shyar has passed and Stone is upset for how he treated you." Mason explained," All I know is you are an amazing shot." Mason looked upon the evening sky and took in a breath. A smile appeared upon his face. Mason looks Leknora in the eyes," So what do think?"
