I was just told today, that the store I have been working at for almost 2 years is closing in roughly 2 weeks. The economy has hit us hard. The store owner just can't do it anymore. I may be on here a lot more. ;D No, just send out prayers, happy thoughts, whatever, to help me get any kind of job. I will keep you all posted on what's happening with me as we go.

Nope. Remember when My Father in Law was diagnosed with cancer? (ok so I guess it was more then a few weeks ago) Well He was diagnosed on Superbowl weekend. I told my boss I needed Sunday off to watch my daughter because my wife was spending the whole day at Loma Linda hospital. She said fine that either she or another manager would cover my shift but, she would appreciate it if I called around to other stores to get it covered. Well later she calls back after she remembered that this was superbowl sunday. She tells me on the phone (I had no luck getting my shift covered) that the other manager couldn't work my shift because he requested super bowl off.
So I figure ok, fine. She'll cover my shift. Nope. I come in two days later and I'm going to be terminated for a no call no show. She assumed (incorrectly) that I was a mind reader and that she had no intention of covering my shift and when she told me it was superbowl I should have figured that out. I kept my job by going above her head and pleading my case to the District Manager. I basicly told him that she never verbally stated her intentions so I was still under the impression that my shift was covered. That alone wasn't enough. I had to call 3 other store managers that I had worked for as character references that this sort of thing was not in my nature. In the end I got to keep my job but had to sign a final written warning for job abandonment. WHATEVER! I 'm still working.

OK, it's official. The store I work for closes 04/30/2009. After that I will be unemployed. Hopefully i will find something quick, or I am going to become a hippie on the beach making beaded necklaces for people.
