Yeah, I bought the menga sized rules on ebay minutes ago. I don't plan on starting this any time soon but, now it will happen. I want to read the book cover to cover and get a good story plot line thought out before I even talk about making Characters. I'll keep everyone who's interested updated here as far as what I think of the rules (they are palladium based so I don't forsee a problem) and more importantly the story line. I liked the film HomeSkillet posted for us but, the time frame from begining to end seemed short for a viable RPG. We'll see what I come up with once I read the rules. ROBOTECH is one of my better games to GM for. I've come up with a couple gem story lines in the past. Hopefully I can keep that going.

ok, just to help me out what kind of mecha do you prefer? Veritechs, Destroids, cycles? This may help me later.

I don't know, I like the cycles and the veritechs. How different are they from the earlier books that we used to play?

Well the Veritechs are the 'Alpha' and 'Beta' versions that came out in the Invid war along with the cycles. The Alphas are the current top of the line fighters and the Betas are hideously ugly 'bombers'. The main thing we need to realise is the adventure types. If you pick an Alpha you can fly and walk around. A cycle can only walk or drive but it can go inside places so the adventures differ slightly.

Don't the Cycles do amazing leaps?

I believe so (I still don't have book yet) They are really cool but, obviously less powerful then the Alphas. Now in the Invid war I know you could use both because a Cyclone cycle can be stored inside an Alpha. If this is still the case then we'll just do it that way. I'm trying to see what you both like better if either 'cause it may not work if one of you is an Alpha pilot while the other is a Cyclone driver. Then again it might I need to see how the RPG is dealing with the new story line. Maybe I'm asking to soon. Hehe.

They deff. are. They just keep you out of the epic space battles but, from an RPG point of view that is prob. fine. They also don't pack the punch though so if you find yourselves up against...I don't know, an Invid shock trooper or what have you , the best option may be to run/ride away.

The space battles were dealt with. The battles on earth weren't even shown. I like Cycles, next Destroids and last Veritechs.

Works for me if it works for both of you. Most likely that's what the game design will focus on. Like you said, the ground was not shown. I'll let you know more when I get the book. I should get it by Friday.

I could go with either a cycle or even a destroid. we would have to work out the team though. Wouldn't be much fun if one is always way behind or can't roleplay because they are too detached from the action.
Guess we could be a team of cyclones. That would keep us all on the field together.
