The Kell K'un Assassins Guild was new to the area. So new that Doon was one of the first 'Silencers' in all of the Timiro Kingdom. This very night he was to meet his handler. The negotiator and contract bidder sent ahead to find worthy contracts for all Silencers to fullfill on the Guilds behalf. It was a relief to Doon. No more mentors shadowing him on mission after mission. No more political dealings to maneuver ones way up the ladder in the guild. Ahh, freedom. Just him the contracts and eventual revenge. Well...and the handler or 'Listener' as they preferred.
The Silencer was informed to meet his Listener at 2am at the dock 4. A man in black hooded robes melted out of the shadows to meet him right on time. It was quiet except for the river.
"I am Sithis the Listener, young one." the man, a human, spoke in a low, deep, gravely voice. "What shall I call you Silencer?"
"Doon." Graysmoke replied.
"Excellent. Now if you don't mind I shall skip the small talk till next we meet. You could not have come at a better time. I have a very important mission for you, but first things first."
Sithis reaches into his black robe slowly and pulls out two small, black, leather-bound books and hands one to Doon.
"In the future this is how we will communicate." Sithis continues. Doon flips through the book only to find the pages empty. "What I write in mine shows up in yours and vice versa. Check it daily and give me progress reports whenever possible." Sithis doesn't give Doon a chance to let that sink in before he continues. "Here is a map of Timiro Kingdom. Considering you are new to this area I thought it may help you. My apprentice was offered a lot of money by Cains cutthroats to rat us out to the local constabulary before we could get a foot hold here in Timiro. We figured starting in a border town like Garrotten wouldn't draw to much attention, but we were wrong. Now my ex-apprentice is in protective custody. Ironically he is being lodged in the local dungeon at the castle. He has information on our activities in the area as well as the details concerning the arrival of Meylon herself to oversee our start up operations. Luckily she is overdo, but I wish this resolved before her inevitable arrival. Understood? My other silencer is already on a mission so it's up to you. If you fail write to me and flee Timiro. We will not be safe here any longer. The mark is js'eroafo, an elf with a considerable 'gift' though I hear yours is truly astounding."

Doon tightened his grip on the book. He might not care deeply for some of the members of his guild but there has to be some loyalty. If someone should choose to leave the guild because their life path directs them to, that's one thing. But to let greed make you place the lives of your friends and impromptu family in danger is unexceptable.
"I will find this Js'eroafo and deal with him. First, I want to know what he looks like. I want to know him on sight. Second, tell me what you can about him. Does he have any family? Any habits or specific quirks that I might be able to exploit? What can you tell me about the Castle, do we have anyone on the inside?"
Doon shifted his weight slightly from one foot to the other then back again. He was beginning to get uncomfortable from standing around in the open like this.

"Good. you do not sally forth blindly as some arrogant silencers do. We will work well together." Sithis glanced around at their surroundings. "Come. We are to exposed here if we doddle." The listener escorted the young assassin to a rickety looking hovel not far from the docks. Sithis put his palm upon the door and Doon heard the latch click. The door opened smoothly and the two entered quickly, closing the door behind them. It was black as pitch as all the windows were boarded up. "This home belongs to a local trapper. I keep tabs on when he is out of town for occasions such as these. Now we currently have no one in the castle nor do I have a map of any kind of it's layout. I am still setting up shop as it were. Js'eroafo is a sharp high elf. He won't be easily duped or tricked. His mental barriers are strong and he has the gift of suggestion. Allow him to speak to you at your own peril. He is also a speed reader and remembers everything he sees or hears. He truly is gifted for a greedy traitor. His greed and arrogance are his biggest weaknesses. As for what he looks like...open your mind and I will show you."

Doon didn't like the idea of lowering his guard but Sithis did have information that he needed. Carefully, Doon began to relax his mind.

After a moment Sithis touched Doon's head with the palm of his hand. Doon instantly got a flash, like a memory of an youthful Elf with shaved head and ctystal blue eyes.

Doon nodded his head slowly as he revisited the memory a few times. "is there anything else you can think of that I should know?"

"Not really. If I think of something, I'll write to you." He waggled the book in the air for emphasis. "Do you need any supplies before you go?"

Doon thought for a moment, rubbing his chin, "I need to get into the castle. I also need to get close enough to the target to silence him." Looking down at his clothes, Doon suddenly looked up, "I need to change. Dressed like this I'll stand out and never get close to seeing the inside of the castle. I'll need to dress like a peasant and then pass for someone that works in the castle. Maybe then I could slip into the dungeon...," Doon realized that he was rambling and his gaze refocused on Sithis, "I need a change of clothes. Any thoughts?"

Sithis smiled and spread his arms wide. "My house is your house." The Listener walked over to a chest of drawers against the far wall as he continued. "As I said earlier this trapper fellow is often away as he is now. I don't expect him back for days. Take what you need. He'll blame it on simple thievery, never suspecting he inadvertently helped in a murder." Sithis chuckled in a low sinister way.
The chest contained several outfits, mostly fur lined pants and wool shirts. They would be stifling hot in the unusual mid spring heat, but they were durable and unlike anything he currently wore. At least the nights were still relatively cool. Looking around there was also a thick leather belt on a wall peg, small lanterns, two oiled torches, a hand mirror, wood bowls, plates and cutlery, wax candles, parchment, an animal fur hat, bedding, a tinder box, chopped wood for fires, a medium, iron, cooking kettle, an assortment of hunting paraphernalia such as traps, nets and knives and of course unworked furs everywhere.

Examining the clothing displayed before him, Doon looked back to Sithis, "I'm afraid none of this would fit me very well."
Doon layed his pack on the bed and pulled out some gently worn traveling clothes, "I changed before I arrived to meet with you. First appearances and all." He then grabbed a leather belt from a peg on the wall and wool shirt from the chest. Pulling his dagger from its scabbert, he set to work rough cutting the shirt and belt until the fit. he then cut at the cuffs of the pants making them look frayed and worn in.
After he was done, Doon slipped on his disguise, "so, what do you think? Would I pass for a halfling (duh) that toils in the dungeon of the castle?"

"You just might lad, you just might. Good luck to you then. I must be going. May the Night hide you."

Doon secured the door after Sithis left. Too excited to sleep Doon continued to work on his disguise by dragging on the floor adding some tears and ground in dirt to complete the effect.
Unable to sleep, and unwilling to use the trapper's bed, Doon layed a blanket on the floor and meditated to calm his nerves and steady his mind. Tomorrow was going to be a busy day and he didn't need to look out of place. He let his mind wonder hoping the universe would provide additional inspiration.

The next day saw Doon well rested, but with no divine answers to his questions. He'd just have to go in and get his mark.

Doon walked quickly to the castle. Once he was at a good range to have a good view of the castle he moved slowly to survey the land, to take it all in. He looked for the morning shift reporting for duty. He made mental notes of the larger landmarks. Once he found the service entrance he shuffled his feet through the dust and casually joined the line.
