The Baron of Garrotten ruled today that the gold mine discovered by 'Stone' the Hero of Garrotten and the Black Smith Halfhelm, the owner of the local Iron mine shall be given over to the dwarfs in payment for excellent service to the realm. Halfhelm has sent word to his brethren to send more dwarfs to Garrotten to help with the excavation and protection of the new mine. The Baron also ruled that while the new gold mine belongs to the dwarfs of Timiro he will allow anyone to stake claims in an attempt to find other veins of the precious metal. A claims station has been set up at the River Wardens office for anyone who wishes to stake a claim for a new mine. Prices vary depending on the size of the claim. Any gold found may be exchanged for coin there as well.
Fire Brand strikes again. The giant Bandit and his band of scoundrels attacked a small village east of Garrotten. The small fishing community was burned to the ground and its people butchered. The few survivors straggled into Garrotten yesterday. This is the first known siting of FireBrand to the East. Up until now he has only raided villages and travelers to the West and North. A Hero Falls!
The legendary Hero of Garrotten, 'Stone' has been reported dead by his fellow adventures. Jhessil's nephew Tull had this to say;
"Stone was the greatest man I ever met. He gave everything he had to protect a country that wasn't even his. The world is a darker place without him."
Stone died while defending the Timiro Kingdom from an Ogre invasion. His companions described Stone using foreign magic to bring part of a mountain down to seal 'Ogre pass' before the main body of the monster army could march through. According to witnesses he was crushed by the avalanche that ensued only because he said, "It is the only way to be sure." Stone will be missed.
