How could someone call Karma 'just' xp? Its used to increase every aspect of the character any way the player wants to instead of just getting a flat skill and hp bonus like most games. Not to mention it can be used to influence actions and dice rolls. Just xp.. HA!

Did you go and look at the post? Oh man this guy is a crack up, but no one there likes the other games. I guess we are just some old school fools.

I guess I won that debate. He stopped arguing with me. Oh, and thank you GM for the backup and the vote.

Yeah I was sure I'd get a bite or two but I guess they just don't care enough. I'm always willing to assist when needed. The thing that bugged me more then the Karma argument was the fact the guy hated random characters. Maybe if this new system had a random hero generator there would be less 'clones' on that site. Did you ever read the blue lightning character creation thread? The author had character generation down to such a science to get the best punch for your stones it took all the fun out of making a character.

I know he tweaked it, but the Blue Lightning came out of the main book.

I am now the proud owner of the New Marvel system rule book and yes, Blue Lightning is from the book. The book made it sound so easy but when I tried to sit down and make one, I felt like I was doing my taxes. Flipping back and forth, checking this to that, running a tally of stones. Some of the things that you saw on that site, certain powers, advantages, etc., are not from the main book. They must have either made them up or they were defined in later books.
Oh, and yes, I agree that Karma is more then merely XP.

I have a link, which I will post on my board, that let's you download a program that does everything for you and the other 2 Supplements( X-Men and Avengers) do have more Actions and Modifiers and even expansions on other powers.

That's cool. So you just click and it does all the math? I like that. Besides I'm not crazy about buying any more books for this just yet.

Well..., just a lot. I like to be aware of the games I play. This was a new system so I wanted to learn the rules so I'm not either slowing the flow of the game because I constantly asking simple questions or wasn't missing out on another aspect of the game that could expand my playing experience. Besides, it's a pretty book, lots of nice pictures and it has all the charts to work through combat and non-combat actions. So it makes an attractive and informational coaster.

Just a lot? Is that a yes? Were those justifications to not make yourself feel bad? I am hoping to be able to answer any questions possible that come up on my board when it comes to rules, so anyone can play, weather they have the books or not. The post by post format can help provide the answers without really holding anything up. This system really is more simple and straight forward than the original system, but I still like the original more.

I liked the original too. But like I said before, if you were at or above Incredible you were pretty tough, Remarkable and below and you were too weak. Not to mention the way the grid system worked, the higher your power or ability was the easier it was to hit, dodge or to do damage.
I did like the idea that you could attack a character physically, mentally, and spiritually. Do the new rules cover things like that?

Not the same. Damage is pretty straight forward and go against Health, but your method of attack could vary. You may resist damage differently, but that is usually covered with your Defensive Modifiers.

That's what I thought. So you can have an attack as either mental, spirit or physical and the defense would depend on any such modifiers? I can see that but some attacks on someone's mental fiber and that's not something you can just lift weights to improve. But I guess this keeps folks alive longer.

It's more simpler this way too. There are Psionics and Magic, but they all do damage to Health for purposes of damage, but I am sure with both you may be able to fry someone's mind into jelly and steal someones soul leaving the body completly intact.
