"Hurummff. I'm a dwarf lad. I know exactly where we are." Before he could say anything Nilla spoke up. "We're a 10 minute walk down hill to my house."
"Uhhh, exactly. Smart girl." Halfhelm commented. "Now let me look at your friend here." The dwarf looked at the bandaging Firebug did and grunted and began reworking and adjusting them. "Not bad for an amateur I guess. There that will do. He should make it to Androsia's now with out to much trouble. We can't dally around though." With that the group got to work. Seven minutes later the contraption was rigged to hoist Nilla up. With a huff, the two men hauled her then Aiko up to the hole. Nilla had trouble getting Stones dead weight off the gurney but she finally managed. Firebug grabbed the halfling by the feet but Halfhelm paused. "He's gone lad. Leave him for the rats. I'll go next."

"Climb aboard Master Dwarf, I'll do my best not to drop you." Firebug smiled weakly as Halfhelm climbed onto the gurney. "Once you get to the top, I'll need some help pulling myself out." Firebug hands Halfhelf the slack end of the rope from the contraption. "Once up top please secure this end to something so I can lift meself with your help."
With that he began tugging on the rope, hoisting Halfhelm higher and higher. Once he finally reached the top Nilla helped him out of the gurney, then they both disappeared for a moment. Firebug quickly glanced around the cave.

Firebug quickly found what he was looking for. Gold. there was a small cart full of nuggets. He filled his pouch quickly as not to be missed by Halfhelm and returned to the gurney.
The contraption worked like a charm though it made Firebug nervous. It shook from side to side and threatened to tip him over. The mystic wasn't the strongest man alive and weighed down with even a bit of gold made things difficult. He soon found himself at the top, sweating, out of breath and being pulled out by Halfhelm. From there Nilla guided the group back to town.
"I should drop Nilla off with her mother. Yo take your friend to Androsia's for treatment and I'll meet you there." Halfhelm suggested.

"Nilla, we will be by to visit later once you have had a chance to rest if that is alright?" Firebug layed a hand atop her head. "Your father should still be in the mines. Halfhelm have you anyone left who could alert the rest of the search party that have found Nilla?"
Firebug was struggling with how to best move Stone hill. With a grunt he lifted him up with a fireman's carry and was able to move a little easier despite the extra weight.

"I thought we would go together after Androsias. I can go it alone if you have other plans, I just thought you would want to be there to look for that lady friend of yours. We're the only ones who know where she is."

"But of course Master Halfhelm, but many hands make light work. If everyone knows we have found Nilla we focus everyone on finding Lady Siff. We know the general area she went missing so if we start again at the beginning, then we should be able to find her. Right now I must get Stone to Androsias. Will you join me then for a walk to Androsia's?"

"Lead on." Halfhelm waved with his hand.
Androsia took immediate care of Aiko. "He'll be fine. He may not wake for a day or two though. He lost a lot of blood but you two patched him up well enough. I'll care for him.
"Bloody Hell! What did Stone get himself into?" A human who occupied another bed asked in shock. The man looked tough but was covered in bandages around his mid-section.

"This is nothing you should see the other guy. Stone is something of a local heroe. As he led us to save this little girl," Firebug pointed to Nilla who stayed at Halfhelm's side. "I can't go into details until the Constable makes an official statement, but he risked his life to save her." Turning back to Androsia, "I would like to pay for this heroes care." Turning back to the man in the bed, "Sir, we must hurry back to search for another friend, I trust Stone will be in good hands with you watching over him?"
Firbug bows to the man and paused long enough on the way out to speak to Androsia, "Brightest blesses mistress Androsia". (In elvish)

After Firebug payed for Stones medical treatment and care for two days he and Halfhelm wasted no time in dropping Nilla off with her mother and heading back to the Mine. It didn't take as long as he feared to round up the search parties. As luck would have it, Siff was found by another search party and hugged Firebug when she saw him.
"I didn't know what happened to you all. I feared the worst when I discovered I was the only one to head back to the main tunnel. I was badly injured but I just had to pray to the Lord and he took care of me. I was in the dark and couldn't see a thing! I kept my right hand on the wall and stumbled around until one of the other search parties found me."
Firebug retold his side of the story and everyone was greatful to head out of the mine now that Nilla was found. On the way back to town both Lord Kursaville and Contable Ritage managed to corner Firebug and Halfhelm. They were eager for the tale.

Firebug tried to to speak slowly, retelling of the events that led the group down that tunnel and the cave in that very nearly claimed them all. He told how Fox the trapper not only had found the gold mine but admitted to taking Nilla and had rigged up a trap in an effort to kill her, either in the event someone found him or just to kill her later. It seemed like a lot of work for somone like himself and it was rather complicated if all he wanted was to just kill little Nilla. I guess it's possible that he had an accomplice but we may never know since he died from his wounds. He explained how Stone fought Fox nearly to both of their deaths while he freed Nilla and removed her from the immediate danger, and she is now home with her mother. With Halfhelm's and Nilla's help they were all able to escape from the cave.
Firebug paused and looked from constable to constable, "I'm sorry, I must be rambling on. Was there something specific that we tell you?"

"I'm just trying to piece this all together. What the bloody hell was the motive? What about the boot print? Halflings don't wear boots not to mention they match Moonhaven's perfectly. Is Moonhaven innocent or an accomplice?" Ritage asked obviously frustrated with the whole thing. "The girls safe and the kidnappers dead. Case closed. Lord Kursaville I expect a full report from you and your..uh, team by this time tomorrow. Do your best to fit the puzzle together for me." He turned back to Firebug. "I can't help notice the role you played in all this lad. I'm turning the Sminner case over to you and the Constable here. Good work." With that he moved on ahead and began talking with Halfhelm about mining rights.

Kursaville turned to Ritage as he walked past, "Sir, I think we need speak with Moonhaven again. It's possible that now that we know about Fox, we can get him to talk."
Firebug added, "Thank you sir, I'm very interested to find out what really happened to Sminner."
He turned back to Kursaville, "I think we should all get some rest if we're going to be of any use tomorrow."
Firebug then turned to walk away and headed straight toward Siff where he paused as he stared for a long ackward moment. He then swept her up in his arms and hugged her tight, "I really had thought I had lost you. You have no idea how happy I am to see you again."
