***Mine #3***
Porthen lead Aiko and Tull on a merry search down twisting tunnels and dead end passages. The dwarven mine was well constructed and thought out. Stone supports made the walls and ceiling very sturdy and solid. Occasionally the group would come across a collapsed section of wall or tunnel. Tull commented when the group had seen there fifth such cave in.
"It's the quakes, little halfling. Even dwarven construction can not hold back the earth when she wants to take it back from us."
"Why don't you repair them?" Tull continued to ask Porthen as the they searched tunnel after tunnel that for the most part seemed the same to the halfling.
"No need. Unless it is a major artery or a part of the mine we are currently working on we simply ignore it until we need to go there. It's more efficient that way." Porthen seemed to like giving lectures. He seemed to be coming out of his grumpy shell, though Aiko thought perhaps all dwarves were naturally more comfortable when talking about tunnels and mines.
Aiko during the search was for the most part fascinated. He had no trouble keeping his bearings in the mines. They were currently headed North by Northeast at an 8% down hill grade. The dwarven construction was like nothing he had seen before. Dwarven buttresses and flying buttresses, support columns, even the most simple of arches seemed to hold some new wonder or insight into dwarven society and architecture. Nothing was hap-hazard or crude. everything was thought out to the finest detail. Meditation down here would be blissful.

" This is amazing," Stone finds himself thinking out loud," I would love to down here possibly working with these wonderful miners for a while." As Stone gazes in awe about the mine he catches a faint, familiar, orange sparkle down one of the branching tunnels to the Northwest. A tunnel Porthen was passing by." Over there!" Stone announces pointing and flashing his lantern light," I believe I see some limestone in this tunnel." Stone breaks from the others to investigate.

"Hmm?" Porthen grunts. "Oh, excellent. Alright Stone. From this point on is the only place deep enough in Mine #3 that type of lime stone can be found. If she is not in this section then I doubt she is in this mine. We should be able to search this area in about ninety minutes if we do it systematically."

Stone begins in the tunnel he found. He is looking for, 1: The girl( of course) and 2: any passages leading out.

Two hours later, the group had found no evidence of Nilla, or another way out of the mine.
Tull attempted to wipe dirt off his face. All three searchers looked dirty and tired. "Shall we try the rest of mine #3 anyway or link up with Masons group?"
"Maybe we should recruit more help. The six of us will take DAYS to search these mines. If you really want to find her we need to get a LOT more people in here." Porthen looked exhausted to Stone. He had put in a full day at the mine as well as helping to look for Nilla.

" Porthen, I am sorry. You need to go home and get some rest. As for the rest of the party they should return to find Kusavile and bring him back in the morning. I would like to stay here myself. Keep the search going and rest in this beautiful cave. Porthen, I know you don't know me, but I lived for 17 years inside a mountain and never have I seen a mine so much like home. I believe I can meditate hear and clear my thoughts better than I can back in town. Plus, I may be able to conclude the search. Please Porthen, I will give all of my belongings to hold to insure that I won't harm your mine. Whatever you want to let me stay here over night."

***Mine #3***
Porthen looked to tired to argue. "If you stay here then so will I. We have a bunk room just off the main cavern entrance. I'll rest there. Your welcome to join me. If you send your freinds to get help I'll do the same and send for the other miners and anyone else Master Halfhelm can spare to search in the morning."

" Porthen, you don't need to stay, but if you'd like I would like to stay out here in the mines for my rest,"Stone suggests," let us go meet with the others and let them know the plan. Tull please explain to Lord Kusavile what we have found and request his help."

"Hrummh. If you want to rest out here go right ahead. Just don't get lost. I don't want to have to look for you as well." Porthen stated grumpily.
"Alright Stone. I'll follow the path down the hill and take the road to town. Good luck with the search. I'll bring as many people back as I can." Tull exclaimed.
The group made there way back to the main cavern entrance where Tull said his goodbyes and jogged down the path. Porthen looked tired. "I'm going to get some shut eye while I can. Your friends could be anywhere in mine #4 so I wouldn't recommend looking for them but I've got a good nose and I guess you seem to have a knack for underground direction after all. I believe you won't get lost if you look around on your own. Your call. Do what you will. I'll be in that side chamber over there." The supervisor pointed to a side tunnel that was obscure until pointed out. He left Stone alone who now had to decide if he wanted to search alone, find his friends or meditate here until they came back.

Aiko finds a spot against a cavern wall to sit and meditate. Sitting deeply into the powdered earth and with his back against the rock he relaxes and drifts into meditation. He feels the iron and stone in the earth around him. After a time the limestone as well can be felt. He can sense every mineral within the whole of the hills as well as a great honeycomb of black voided areas where he can sense nothing. The Tunnels. Empty tunnels everywhere. His mind extends even further to sense irregularities in the earth. Fractured stone. weak areas prone to collapse or cave ins. Piles of unstable rock. Fissures beneath the surface waiting for a tremor to crack them open and swallow anything near by. Even a small amount of gold can be sensed.....
Aiko's eyes snap open. Gold?

Akio stands up. And walks to mine #1. Maybe Nilla found this gold and that's what has gotten trouble. If I find out that these guys have kidnapped her, because they are hiding their gold... I better go check it out.

As Aiko begins looking at the elevator to Mine #1 two things happen. The second search party return to the central cavern looking dead tired. Seeing Aiko, Mason waves a hand in greeting. "No luck?" was all he said.
The second thing to happen was a group of people led by Tull crested the hill and walked toward the open cavern entrance.

Aiko calls Mason over to him," There is gold in Mine #1," Aiko informs Mason quietly, " She may have happened on it and now is trapped for it." Aiko turns to the rest of the group and the party led by Tull. " I AM GOING TO MINE# 1. NILLA MAY BE THERE!" Aiko then begins to start figuring out how to work the elevator.

Kursaville entered the mines speaking softly to Constable Ritage as he pointed around the mine. Behind them followed an angry Halfhelm and several more of his dwarves, and behind them, Firebug and Siff brought up the rear.
As they moved deeper into the mine Kursaville saw Stone in the distance and called to him, "Stone, Stone I need to speak with you a moment."

Stone still working the elevator looks toward Kursavile," Later, sir, we need to go down to Mine 1. Nilla may be there. So if you are coming, hurry up. The cart is going down," Stone commands.
