The village, if one could call it that, was five huts around a central fire pit. A small field lay just to the north irrigated by the river. An earthen levy kept the river from flooding the field in wet months. The whole village numbered 14 in all, more of an extended family then a true community. Three of the younger men were building up the Levy in a spot that looked thin. four others were working in the field when the small party came into the village proper. Chier was greeted by the groups eldest member; An old women named Sha-sha.
The story of how the brave knight saved young Phimmo from the tigers jaws quickly circled among the village and the party was asked to stay and eat dinner with them if they had time.

Well after much consideration the Chier talked it over with the rest fo the grp and they had all decided to stay. Although Chiereneua was reminded of the primary duty as to the quest they set out to complete.
Chiereneua stated to tiy "We will get to the ship, it is stuck on some rocks if what the warden told us was true it will still be there."
tiy said in a calming manner "We still need to get there I think as soon as we can."
"yes, yes tiy one meal will not hurt out primary goal I think and besides we could use a good meal and a good rest before we get there. Who know what our fate will bring when we get to the boat."
The companions sit and eat a great meal or what a small rather tiny village of this sort could provide. The men take a rest and even Chiereneua decided to rest as he gets a good feeling from the people of the village.

The evening goes well and the parties quest to find the shipwreck is told to the village. As it turns out they know of it. It was seen heading upriver late at night. Inhuman voices as well as that of men could be heard coming from the ship. A hunter found the wreck the next day and had remarked on it. That same hunter Jo-jo-Sha talked in great lengths to the Paladin and had agreed to take the party there at day break. He would happily be your guide.

The company leaves at first light led by Jo-jo-Sha. The shipwreck is found by mid-day. It is a merchant vessel but not meant for shallow river travel. Its draft is to deep and only the recent snow melt rising the rivers level allowed the ship to make it this far. It is facing away from the party obviously in route to the Old Kingdom when it ran aground. Its hull is in bad shape and it is listing badly. The strong currents here will undoubtedly rip her apart soon. Whatever is inside for the taking better be had soon.
Jo-jo-Sha speaks up. "I have brought you here but I will not go withing the ship."
Chier realizes another delema. He can't hope to bring his trusted mount inside as well. Someone must stay with the Horse.

Chiereneua, who would not want to leave his horse just sitting on the bank decided to talk to JoJo and ask her if she would stay with his horse and if there was any trouble to just climb on him and he would take you to safety.
The companions then begin the long journey through the water to the boat that lay in the distance.

The group had some difficulties traversing the river. The water was fast and the current strong. Chier also learned that only about half his party could swim making things even more interesting. Lucky for the party the shipwreck diverted some of the river bottom to create a shallow sand bar. Even Glaivin who complained loudly about the crossing was able to keep his head above the water line. Exhausted, soaked but alive the group was able to get within ten feet of the ships hull. The water was a raging torrent of frothy white water around its side so getting closer on foot would just get someone swept away. The main deck of the ship was just twenty feet above the parties heads.
"So how in the Lords name are we gonna get on that ship Chierinaeu?" Glaivin asked with just a hint of sarcasm.

Chier is getting frustrated with Glaivins impatient attitude of the the situation.
"Well sir we can always take the rope and tie you feet together and use you as a raft while we use you arms for ores" Chier stated with even more of a sarcastic tone.

"Hurumph. Hah! Hahahahaaa!" Glaivin gives a booming laugh and slaps Chier on the back.
"Allow me my Lords." Johan steps aside and unravels his Grappling hook and rope. With 40' worth he has plenty of play. "I used to tie off the river boat all the time." He deftly spins the grapple and tosses it over the boats side. It hooks on the first try. Dropping the rope in the water he nimbly climbs the rope up and over the side. "Come on up!"

The group eventually all make it to the deck. It is canted at an odd angle but everyone can still walk on it if a little awkwardly. The first thing the Paladin and his men notice are bodies. Both Orc and Human bodies are everywhere. 13 in all. A battle of somekind was fought here on the main deck days ago. Weapons lay about covered in blood and everyone appears to have died from somekind of wound as apposed to disease or what have you. The bodies are shriveled and blackened.
"Well if there are any valuables, where would they be? Trillion asks. "Most likely either in the hold below us or in the captains cabin over yonder." Johan responds from experience aboard such vessals.
"So do we split up My Lord or check them out one at a time?" Glaivin adds, eager to see what treasure awaits.
Tiy is nealing next to one of the bodies. "This is not right. These bodies should be bloated, not shriveled, yes?"

"This is indeed not a normal thing, I say we stick together and listen to Johan as he has experience aboard these type of boats. Or at least some close to it anyhow."
Chiereneua speaks to Johan briefly for a moment alone.
"Well Johan where would such a room be?" Chier asks with some concern for the safety of the party. Before Johan can answer Chier says we will stick together and treasure is no longer a priority on this journey for me. just we need to find what caused this demise of these beings. If we run in to valuables along the way so be it we will take what we can. My path is of a different part from yours. I will stay with the group as long as I am able."
"Ok" Johan says loudly so the entire party can hear him lets us move off this way." Johan points toward what looks the ships hold.
Chiereneua then says ok myself and Johan will run up front the and the ranger in the middle with the torch barers. Tiy and The dwarf will bring up the rear guard.
The party starts to move to the place that Johan pointed out.

The party make their way to a large square trap door slightly rear of the center of the ships deck. The rigging used for opening and closing the doors to the main hold were shattered and broken. It took just about everyone to lift one side up and away for easier access to the bowels of the ship.
As the door was opened Chierinaeu reeled from a strong sensation. Something was down there. Something supernatural. The hot, humid air around the Paladin seemed to grow heavy and cold. His skin raised with goose bumps and he shook from a chilling presence. Chier looked around him but no one else seemed effected. Chier knew he had special gifts given to him by his elven God. Whatever he felt could just as easily be a benign supernatural force but he doubted it. This felt malignant and foul.
"Torch" Tiy commanded and Mandrid quickly lit one.
"We don't need light with our elven eyes my lord." Maverick the groups wood elven ranger scoffed.
"Not everyone here can see in the dark like us Elf" Glaivin scolded.
"Ahh, yes, the humans. How quickly one forgets about their short comings."

"Maverick you stay up here and to cover us as we go down." Chier commanded.
Chier looked into the hole with and uneasy feeling he went down first followed closely by tiy then by the torch barer.
soon the only one left at the top was the elf. "ok it we made mav come on down." Chier called up.
Maverick started down the rope.

The main hold was dark and damp. This deck of the ship was already filled with two feet of water. The cargo at a glance appeared to have been mostly silks and other fabrics, now ruined by the water level.
"Well we won't be getting rich off this find." Mandrid comented while kicking over a split crate of soaked rolls of fabric.
"Hush! Did you hear that?" Glaivin barked. A splashing sound could be heard coming from the dark recesses of the hold.

Chiereneau's body shakes with a cold shiver, then he realizes that the companions are not alone here. looking around to where the splashing could be heard with his elven eyes to see if he could see anything.
"OK!" Chier says to the rest of the companions, " I did not expect to find this ..." chier stalls for a bit. "I can not explain this evil to you in words but I am not going to ask you to come any further for those that are not directly under my employ."
Chier continues after a moment of silence. "This is going to get very dangerous I have a feeling."
There seems to be a bit of mumbling about as the companions seem to be discussing this matter among them selves.
"I warn you do not take too much time discussing this matter. I feel there is not much time before the danger is upon us." Chier cries out in fear for the himself and the group.
