Silverbeard had been tracking scab for days. He hadn't targeted him specifically for capture. The dwarven hunter just had a good memory for faces and he had recognized the bandit as he rode past him on the road. Turning round and tracking the human on foot had been a challenge but, by twelve noon on the sixth day the horse Scab was riding had stopped in a small yet booming town called Garrotten. Twelve and six were good omens to dwarfs. Silverbeard was feeling lucky. locating the horse just outside a local tavern called the drunkin Griffin, the hunter walked up to the door of the establishment. There was an orc slave standing there collecting weapons. As Silverbeard tried to walk past him the orc snarled and spoke in a guttural Southern. "No weapons, and no room for you now. We serve out side or wait till more room." The orc was armed with a war-club and decked out in hard leathers. Silverbeard noted that there were in fact dozens of patrons standing or sitting on logs and tree stumps while drinking outside.

Silverbeard puffed out his chest, "very well, orc. Send me a serving wench so I may quench my thirst."
A quick scan of the area and Silverbeard settled for a spot with shade that gave him a line of sight to both the front door and the street along side.

A serving wench soon arrived. She was pretty in a human way he supposed. Curvy was a good description with hair the color of straw. "I'm Ruby, what can I get for you master dwarf?"

"Well, Ruby, a stein of stout dwarven ale to wash the trail dust from my throat if you please. Also, I be looking for a traveling mate of mine. He told me to meet him here. I be wondering, might you have seen him?"
Silverbeard repeated Scab's description from the wanted poster, but in such a way as to suggest familiarity. Using words like, he's a little taller then you, instead of saying he's 5 foot 2 inch.

"Hmmm. Doesn't sound familier but, I've been serving out here all day. Let me check with my sisters next time I see them. One stein of dwarven ale coming up." she winked and smiled before turning away and heading to another new comer.

Silverbeard nursed his ale while get his weapon set to the ready. Should Scab leave the pub, he wanted to be ready.

Silverbeard sat and sipped for what seemed like forever. Then his wench came up to him from inside the tavern. "You wanted to see me?" She asked pleasently.

"While I don't mind seeing you, didn't you just bring me my ale lass?" Silverbeard set his stein down and wiped his mouth with the same hand so as not to move his other hand from range of his weapon. "Have you seen my mate this morning?"
He tried not to look overly suspicious of this turn of events. Maintaining a relaxed appearance he continued glancing around her in the event this was an attempt to distract him from his mission. He wasn't going to let Scab get away, not when he was this close.

"Me? No, that was Ruby my sister. I'm Cheska. Ruby said you wanted to ask me about someone. What's this mate of yours look like? Is he as handsome as you?" The lovely barmaid gives Silverbeard's arm an affectionate squeeze.

Silverbeard smiled back and gently pulled his arm free of Cheska's grip. This unprovoked attention was making him nervous. She was blocking his view of the front door and this is likely a distraction should Scab have been tipped off to his inquires.
With eyes glancing around for signs of anyone trying to sneak up on him, Silverbeard feined a smile, "thank you but no, I fear I got all the looks," Silverbeard managed a chuckle. "You might have heard others mention his name. He goes goes by the name Scab. If he not be here, I'd best check with the constable. Knowing Scab these would be the two most like spots to find him."
Again, Silverbeard mustarded a dry laugh and tried to move wide to the side of Cheska in order to put some distance between them and give him a better view if anyone else had emerged from the pub.

He's always braggin 'bout how tough he es an challangin' folks to duals." The barmaid rolls her eyes. "Honestly Ay don't understand how you blokes kin fight all the time."

Silverbeard smiled wide, maybe he had misunderstood the intent of the barmaid after all, "fightin' is just somethin ya gotta do. So you could save me an extra trip to the constable's, be Scab in your pub now? Your sister had me sit out here 'cause you be too crowded." He kept his fingers on his weapon and his eyes continued to glance from her to around her checking the street and the door of the pub.

"Ah, ya are a sweet lass," Silverbeard smiled, "Could ya tell that scallywag that his old mate be waiting for 'im? I be much abliged."
As the barmaid walked back to the pub, Silverbeard dumped out his drink and dropped a gold coin inside and left it where he had been seating. He then hurried to the building next door to the pub where he might still have a clear view of the door to the pub. He did his best to hurry. Once in place he where he might still be able to see and have some cover, he readied his crossbow and waited for Scab to step outside to investigate. He drew his sword and leaned it against the building within easy reach should he need it in a hurry. Silverbeard steadied himself and waited.

The serving girl went back into the tavern. Minutes later Scab exited the Drunkin Grififn and retrieved his weapon (a broad sword) from the doorman. The angle was bad because the orc moved into Silverbeards line of sight. Scanning the area quickly the bandit darts around the side of the building at a fast walk.
