" What happened Sull?" Stone asked with a smile.

Sull tilts his head to the side as if not comprehending what Stone means.
Briggs looks back at the filthy dwarf and snickers. Then turns back to Stone as he unloads the furs onto the cart. "Stone, did you know that Gully dwarfs make excellent dust brooms? You just have to tell them that there may be gold under all that garbage and nothing will stop them from scouring the area clean. Hahahaa!" Briggs reaches into his pouch and pulls out some coin. "Here you go Sull. You earned it. The place is spotless."
Sull seems about to get upset but quickly forgets he was duped as he counts his gold crowns.
"Howed the visit with the all powerful Gardrax the Great go Stone?" Tull asked curiously.

Stone reflects and feels a great feeling longing wash over him, but quickly shakes it off. He misses his home and seeing Gardax, in his Eastern room didn't help. Stone forces a smile. "It went great," Stone tried to convince himself," Is the cart ready?"

"Yup. That was the last of it." Briggs patted the mound of furs that Fox had accumulated.
"I should be off then. The sooner my Uncle looks at these the sooner he can give you a price." the halfling exclaimed.
Before Aiko could comment a man on a horse trotted up the road from town. The way his head darted from side to side he seemed to be looking for someone. The man was dressed in studded leather armor. he carried a short sword at his hip and a small wooden shield was strapped to his back. The horse was a good quality riding animal dressed in full leather barding marked with the Barons coat of arms. As the man approached he drew up to a halt.
"You there." He looked directly at Briggs.
"Aye. How can I help you?" Briggs asked a bit cautiously.
"Are you not the chap that was looking to join the caravan headed for the Capital?" The mans tone was brisk and to the point.
"Aye, aye. You were there when I was talking to the Captain of the guard. Am I right?"
"Yes. Glad you remember. Are you still interested?" the man asked while his horse danced slightly from side to side. It seemed its masters fast paced mood had boiled over into the beast.
"Aye. My companions and I were going to sign up first thing in the morning. The caravan leaves in two days does it not friend?"
"There has been a change in plans. The Baron wishes to keep whom ever has been attacking our supply caravans off balance. He has bumped the marching date up to today. I have been sent as a messenger to track down as many interested parties as I could find. If you still wish to join we leave in two hours from the castle." With that he kicked his heals and the horse trotted off up the road.
"Bloody hell that doesn't leave us much time." Briggs swore.
"We still go right? Sull wish to see Capital."
"Nahh, we can't go. Stone needed those two days to rest and heal up." Tull pointed out sadly.

"Do we have enough time to drop these furs off to your uncle, Tull?" Stone asks without explanation.

"Well....we can drop them off but, I can't guarantee he can have them appraised and pay you for them in two hours. You really want to do this with your wounds Stone?" the halfling henchman asks with concern. "You just about passed out at the breakfast table."

"I wanted to show this on our ride to your uncle's, but you leave me no choice," Stone reveals his lack of wounds to his friend," Let's drop these off and have you uncle pay us when we return."

Overjoyed the little halfling completely forgot to ask how Stone had been miraculously cured. Mason locked the door to the cabin while Briggs shuttered the windows. In a rare show of good sense, Sull took the time to talk with Mrs. D'encre to ask if she and her husband could look after the place. Now that the gully had a home (for in his mind it was indeed his as well as everyone else's in the group) he seemed rather protective of it. She agreed happily and sent the group on their way with fresh hot biscuits for the journey. Stone was a little saddened to find that Nilla wasn't home but quickly smiled as it occurred to him that this must mean she wasn't traumatized by her ordeal and was back to her old explorative self.
With warmth in their hearts and food in their bellies, well, the bellies of the little folk that is, for the dwarf and hobbit fought viciously for the biscuits while the humans looked on merrily.
"I say Sull, hand me another biscuit. That woman sure can bake." Tull crooned.
"No. You fat. Sull help Tull stay fit." the dwarf mumbled between bites.
"I'll have you know I'm the perfect weight for my height." Tull complained in a huff. "Now hand ne a biscuit you gully."
"Better to save these for later." Sull began putting the rest into one of his sacks.
"Ohhh, you Thief!" Tull retorted for lack of anything better to say. Sull just smiled and nodded as he polished off another biscuit.
Being a small town, it took almost no time at all to reach Jhessil's by cart.
"These are wonderful. I should have no difficulty moving these come winter." Tull's uncle proclaimed after hearing they were in a hurry. "Can I interest you in anything for your journey? I can most assuredly offer you a line of credit with all these furs as collateral."

"Nothing for me," Stone answers," We must check in soon, but if the others need something put it toward what you give from the furs." Stone smiles and looks around. " Jhessil," Stone calls," Whatever you wish to pay for these is fine, but can we get said payment when we return?"

"No problem at all good lad. Anything for the local Hero. You just take good care of my nephew, you hear me? Hero or not I'll thrash you good."
The group bought a few odds and ends and headed out to meet the caravan.

" No problem," Stone smiles and points to Tull," We are brothers now, so that makes you my uncle too." Stone erupts with a loud laugh and helps his friends get ready for the adventure.

The brotherhood headed to the castle. Just outside the wooden gate they met up with the Caravan. Six wagons filled with crates of various sizes were being looked after by a mixed group of soldiers and hired blades. The Soldiers were separated into two categories. Foot and Cavalry. There were seven cavalrymen in all. All wore studded leather armor and carried short swords, horsemen axes and wooden shields. Aiko noticed that the messenger that retrieved them was part of the group.
The seven Foot Soldiers were armed similarly except that each carried a light crossbow instead of an axe.
There were also four mercenaries like Briggs with the soldiers. All were armed drastically different from each other.
"You there! Your the last. Are you a squad then?" A burly man on a beautiful chestnut barked as the group approached.
Briggs waved at Aiko to let him deal with the man.
"Aye, we be a squad Captain. Where do you want us?" Briggs asked all soldier like.
"Any of you have special skills?" The captain continued.
"Aye. All of us to be sure. Mason here is a woodsman of some skill, The Hobbit Tull is a teamster and this here is Earth Master Stone the Hero of Garrotten." Briggs said in a flourish. "The humble dwarf and I are mere blades."
"Briggs, why...ooff." was all Sull managed to say before Mason whacked him in the stomach.
"Excellent! Corporal Webster!" the messenger from earlier rode up next to his captain.
"Yes Captain!"
"Fetch this ranger fellow a Horse. He just became a scout."
"Right away Captain." he responded as he rode off to the Castle.
"Right. The rest of you are in charge of Wagon five. Protect it with your lives and you'll be payed handsomely. Half at the Capital and half when we return home." His eyes met Stones as he addressed him personally. "Your the only caster in this caravan. I'll want you in on all staff meetings one hour after we set camp every night. Is that understood?"

Stone bowed," Yes, I understand." Stone went back to his brotherhood," Sull, let's keep your fireworks our secret and only use them when absolutely needed. Mason, scout, eh. Very important position. Good luck my friend. As for the rest of us, we better hurry to our wagon." Stone heads over to wagon 5 to assess how they should position.

None of the two-horse drawn wagons were covered, so even persons riding with the cargo of roped down crates would have a commanding view of the surroundings. Stone gave a quick look to see how others were loading up. The first 3 wagons all had non-military looking Teamsters driving them with a foot soldier armed with a crossbow riding in the front passenger seat as well as another in the rear. The number four wagon was guarded by three of the four mercenaries. A huge, burly, ebony skinned fellow took the reins while a wood elf male sat next to him armed with a long bow. In the back rode a diminutive looking Gnome lady. She carried a sling with tiny pebbles and a bandoleer of six minute pointy daggers. All wore simple soft leather armor. Looking behind him Stone saw the last cart was driven by yet another teamster and was protected by the last remaining footman riding upfront and the sole merc in the wagon proper. This last merc was a balding dwarf. he was pale skinned for a dwarf and covered in tattoos. He wore a suit of half plate and carried a massive hammer and small iron shield. His snow white beard had a wind blown look to it. Splaying out in all directions.
