"Good. I have a very important job for you. Keep up and look out," Stone points around at the tress, hills, any place for a good ambush," You smell trouble, you save the whole group."

Sull nods his head vigerously. "Alright."

As Sull walks a little ahead, looking all around with intense concentration, Stone turns to Tull," That should keep him busy enough to leave your purse alone, yes?"

"Nice one." Replies Jhessil's nephew.
The rest of the first day goes without trouble. Brigs decides to stick to the road. Some of the group argue that if they are being followed then maybe off the beaten path would be better. Brigs responds by stating that because no one knows who or what is a day behind them it really doesn't matter. Plus the road is quickest and saving time is the most important thing right now. All this is going on while camp is being set up. "What do you think Stone?" Inquires Brigs.

Stone thinks on it for a moment," Well, since I from other parts," Stone points to the east," I must inquire what my guide and friend thinks." Stone looks toward Mason. Mason is busy with some sort of perch in a sturdy tree branch, probably to get a better vantage point of their surroundings. Below him is Sull. Sull is rambling on something about being the important lookout and demanding Mason make him a perch. Mason is ignoring Sull. Stone could see that Mason's patience is wearing away, " Mason!" Stone broke Sull's insistent chatter, Mason sighs with relief," Join us my friend. Mister Briggs and I would like to plan for tomorrow's journey."

Mason saunters over to the group that is now all in a circle except Earl who is still mumbling to himself while studying the wards. Sull follows Mason, mimicking his walk. Brigs explains his side of the argument. The opposite side of the argument is led by Lady Klarina the quick. With noble blood she feels she has 'the right of it'.
"We should stay off the path so whatever is following us won't find us. Master Brigs is just afraid for his life. We can still make good time off the path. I do have a horse after all and I don't mind carrying some of the little folk now and then as needed. Earl seems secure on the mule and you burly men should be able to make good time through all this farm land. It's not like we are trudging through snow or climbing a mountain for the Lord's sake."

Stone looks at both Briggs and Lady Klarina with a furrowed brow. Such dynamic personalities at odds, imagine if they were working together. I still don't want to be forced into an unwise decision based on argumentative voices. I will ask Mason. Maybe he can give me insight on where to go. Stone waits for Mason to settle himself. Sull plops down in an area where Mason would sit, but Mason doesn't sit, he chooses to stand. Sull slowly rises to stand next to Mason." Mason. You are familiar with this land," Stone say matter of faculty,"What insight can you tell on these choices? Is one way quicker? Which would be more risky to ourselves?"

Mason spits into the ceter of the circle. "Well." A long silent pause ensues as Mason appears to be building his speach in his head. Aiko knows he is unaccustomed to speaking for long periods so this must be hard for his freind but...it had to be done.
"The road is the quickest no doubt about it. That's why its there. It's also the most dangerous if indeed someone is following us. However, Lady Klarina might not realise that trudging through farm land while not real difficult in of itself. It can become quite hazardous when the owners fire crossbows at us for tresspassing. Not to mention all the brigands we have wandering these parts. All in all 6 of one half dozen of the other. Choose your poison."

Stone ponders the information. " At this moment we really do not know if what is a day behind is bad or good. It is not known. What we do know is; the faster we get to Arian the better for us all. I do not want to trespass upon someone's land, so I say we take the road," Stone pauses for a moment to let his decision settle," We can best make our time and if we find as we move along that our unknown is getting closer, we can then cut trough the country, if that is what needs to be done. As of now, why should we be afraid?"

"Fine. A womans opinion obviously means nothing to you men. I'll say nothing further." Lady Klarina storms off to prepare for bed.
"Well I'm glad thats settled. We can only rest 7 or 8 hours before we need to be on the move again. Get some rest gentlemen. I'll take first watch. Mason? Aiko? Either of you want the second." Brigs asks.
"Guess I'm too short for guard duty?" Tull remarks offhandedly.

Mason doesn't sleep incredibly sound in the wild anyway. He has conditioned himself to be a light sleeper. " I will take the second watch, Aiko says right away," Please, call me Stone. My real name has caused me too much trouble already. We should change your name too, Mister Briggs, so this won't happen again." Stone looks at Briggs directly in his eyes, to point out the importance he feels on the subject.

Brigs got a haunted look about him and his eyes darted left then right before focusing on Mason and Aiko. "Yeah, about that. My name really isn't Brigs. During our first meeting with Blimm I felt...I felt a preasure...in my head." Brigs' left hand is touching his temple as he says this for emphasis. "It didn't hurt mind you. I didn't think much of it at the time but now...I ..think Blimm may be one of the gifted....like...me."

"That's what my Ma called it. Powers of the mind. It runs strong in my family. I can't do much but my defenses are strong. Or so I thought. Blimm slipped in like butter. I'd never met anyone who could get past my will before."

"I too, have strong chi," Stone concurred," Maybe our "defenses" is what got us chosen from the rest." Stone ponders this for a while. " Tull, my friend, if you would like to join me on my watch, I would be honored," Stone turns to the halfling with a smile.
