Meylon rode her black, jumping horse Shuriken into the Timiro Kingdom via the Old Kingdom River road. Her Assassins Guild was thriving but, she needed to branch out. The Eastern Territories were wild and untamed. Not the best clientele to be found considering most people took care of their problems themselves. The Timiro Kingdom however was old and had many established cities and towns full of persons willing to pay handsomely to have another person removed permanently.
Up ahead was a commotion on the road. She trotted ahead to see what was going on. She quickly reigned in Shuriken when she realized she recognized one of the men involved. Up ahead was a Tall man in black lacquered armor trimmed in gold leaf and armed with a great sword back to back with an even taller wolfen warrior decked out in green and brandishing a giant polearm. The two were beseeched on all sides by over two dozen orcs of which only half still stood. The orcs attacked savagely but not one could land a blow so great was the two fighters prowess. Meylon had never seen this particular wolfen but she knew the Paladin quite well. 'What the hell is Sunny Willowtree doing out here?' she thought to herself.
So focused was she on the two that she failed to notice an orange haired, heavily tattooed dwarf standing on the bed of a two wheeled cart on the other side of the road until he began talking.
"Watch the ugly one on your left Bane! He almost got under that pig sticker of yours. HA!" The dwarf hefted a hefty looking axe over his shoulder while he pored frothy ale from a keg into a pewter mug.
"Damn you Barbarius! I'm paying you to help me!" Cried Sunny as he hacked off an arm of an orc that was far to slow to get out of the way.
"Nah. I don't remember any orc killin' in the bargain. Not that I need a reason to kill greenskins mind you." The dwarf gulped the ale and leaned down to top it off. "Besides, seems to me that you and your pet have things well under control. Ain't worth gettin' me axe bloodied for. No honor in it really. Certainly no chance of me diein'. No, I'll just sit this one out if it's all the same to you."
The Wolfen barked back at the dwarf in elven. "You dwarfs are as useless as your human companions that you keep. It is no wonder that the elves beat you back to near extinction over a millennia ago. Your a race of selfish, greedy diggers!"
The dwarf smiled as he pored yet another pint of ale. "Better keep your pet on a leash Paladin or I'll collar him for you. And teach him a real language for undermounts sake. I'm tired of hearing that elvish crap!" Meylon noticed the dwarf took little real offense by the wolfens words. She had a feeling that these two spoke heatedly often.
By now only a four orcs remained and their courage broke so they ran for the hills. Two more were taken down as the wolfen Bane dropped his pole arm and took aim with a long bow. It was then that the three noticed her for the first time.

Barbarius stands. The tankard of ale falling to the cart bed, spilling over the edge. His axe at it's ready, he stares the new comer down, with steely aggression. Assassin! Barbarius has been at it long enough to know this little tart of an elf was much more deadly than a handful of orc slaves. He leaps down to the solid earth underneath the wagon and begins his approach. As Barbarius gazes into the beautiful green eyes of elf before him, he drifts to a time lost and remembers, Crimson. " LIKE THE SHOW?" The thought was quickly pushed aside," Well, it's over! We are gonna be busy awhile cleaning up so feel free to go around, but sticking around may not be the best thing!" A disturbing smile spread upon the dwarfs face, as a glimmer of excitement glistened in his eye. He lifts his axe, holding it just right, so the gleam of it's sharp blade catches the sunlight just right to shine in her eyes. " GET MY DRIFT?" Barbarius finishes as he works on closing the space between himself and her.

Meylon tilted her head to the side ever so slightly and raised an eye brow. How charming, she thought. He's threatened by me. Then she sobered up. Smart dwarf. That made him dangerous. She decided to play it calm, no need to upset him. She raised her left hand, palm forward. "Woh, Master Dwarf. I mean you no harm. That Paladin you work for and I know eachother is all. Thought I'd stick around just for a bit."
Sunny was cleaning his blade. "Meylon? What in darkness are you doing here?" He barked none to pleasantly.
"Just happen to be on the same road I assure you." the elf said matter of factly.

The look of pleasure quickly changes to displeasure," YOU KNOW THIS ONE?" He drops his axe and eyeballs the elf on the horse. " CONVENIENT!"

Bane stepped forward onto the head of a still wiggling orc and snapped its neck with a loud pop, "watch your tone dwarf."
Gathering his weapons Bane whispered to Sunny, "is this one a friend of yours?"

"Not exactly." Sunny murmurs back. Then in a louder voice,
"Allow me to introduce everyone." Waving a hand toward the wood elf. "This is Meylon Meysoki a fellow adventurer whom I have had the...honor of traveling with. She has skill with a blade and...less reputable skills as well, isn't that right Meylon?"
The elf just gave a nod in agreement. Just like her thought Sunny. Only reveal what she wants to. He grinned inwardly. He knew she was a thief even though she'd never admit it. He'd keep her secret as leverage in case he ever needed to use it against her. For now though...best to get rid of her.
"These my dear Lady are my current traveling companions. The colorful dwarf goes by the Name of Barbarius and my fine Wolfen friend here is Bane, a Ranger from the North."
Meylon smiled in greeting first to Barbarius. "Master dwarf." She bit back the retort she wanted to say, but she needed to know more of his skills before she took idle snipes. She turned to Bane speaking in elven.
"Lord Bane. I have only met a few of your noble kind, but they were all honorable citizens of the empire. It is a shame your clans can not settle their differences with the humans though seeing you traveling with one gives me hope." Meylon hated being diplomatic but she wasn't in the mood to fight right now.

Bane bowed to Meylon and in elven replied, "you too kind and perhaps grant too much credit." He shot a steeley glare at Barbarius.

Barbarius meets Bane's glare with a grin and in elvish( purposely vulgar)," Oh, the diplomacy is sickening," Barbarius chides," So Meylon, what brings you and your less reputable skills upon us? You haven't been talking to an Ogre named Henry have you?" Barbarius raises an eyebrow.

Perplexed by the comment but happy to drop the niceties she responded with "Sorry, I've never met an Ogre I didn't kill. Though I hear they keep them as slaves down in these parts so, perhaps I'll meet him yet."
Sunny stepped closer. Sheathing his great Flameburg he cut in the conversation before it turned ugly. "Well met Lady. I'm afraid we must meet up with some fellows of mine in Garrotten so we must make haste. Do tr..."
Just then there was a deafening CRACK-BOOM as the sky turned black in an eye blink and the wind gusted enough to turn the cart on its side, tossing the ale keg out onto the road where it bounced once and then rolled into the Old Kingdom River on the north side. The work horse bayed fiercely as the carts rigging twisted and nearly forced the poor animal to fall. It struggled but ended up sitting on it's hind quarters pinned and defeated. Sunny staggered a step before regaining his balance and Meylon's horse shied and side stepped a good ten feet before Meylon calmed her. Both Bane and Barbarius didn't move an inch though Bane's short fur was whipped around furiously.
Everyone was blinded as the sky opened up with lightning. A single bolt striking mere yards away off the south side of the road. Banes Eyes recovered first and what he saw was baffling. Where the lightning struck the earth was charred as one would expect. Some of the grass still smoldered with dying flame. At the very center of the blast point was a human man dressed in odd looking cloths and a metal breast plate that looked more mechanical then practical. Hundreds of very thin lines of pure light covered the plate in a strange criss-crossing pattern. He was holding a spear or lance that also looked too mechanical to function as a normal weapon. The man was obviously wounded as he was splattered with blood and gore while he used his spear as a crutch to attempt standing. He failed miserably though and collapsed in a heap.
The sky cleared as quickly as it had darkened and was soon back to normal. The rest of the witnesses must have started regaining their eye sight as well from the comments Bane was hearing.
"What in the Darkness?" Sunny spoke obviously stunned.
"My day was going so well." Meylon added with a sigh as she dismounted.

" ALE! NO!" Barbarius yelled at the keg floating away," COME ON! ONE OF YOU JUST HAS TO BE ABLE TO SWIM AFTER IT!" Barbarius is almost in tears.

Bane suddenly found himself nearly in Nirvana. He couldn't decide which brought more joy to his heart, the dying human across the road or the look of hurt on Barbarius' face. It didn't really in truth Bane thought the day was actually starting to look up. "Swim, sorry not me."
Moving toward the road Bane paused, "Sunny, that lightning bolt transported a human across the road there. He looked badly injured, I need to make sure." Bane hoisted his polearm set off toward the human.

"Wait, I'll come with you." Meylon shouted as she jogged after the long legged Wolfen.
Sunny looked at the two and realized he was alone with a distraught Barbarius. Making eye contact he shrugged and rapped his knuckles against his breast plate. "Full suit of plate. Sorry. Come on. Lets see if we can help this fellow eh?"

Bane scanned the open field, he guessed that there had to have been more witnesses to this light show. He sniffed at the air as he moved closer toward the smoldering human. With his polearm at ready he lead the group with the frequent scanning of the woodline.

"Yeah, I'll help him alright. Into the river! sure thing," Barbarius mumbles as he angrily follows Sunny. He wipes his face as he begins to feel his buzz fade. I'm gonna kill somebody!

Smelling nothing on the air but dead orcs and ozone, Bane approached the human.
"Is he dead?" This from Meylon who was just behind Bane and to his left.
A closer inspection revealed that while mortally wounded, the man was not burned as if by lightning but, suffered from many cuts both big and small. Some looked like blade wounds but others were definitely claw marks. The man was covered in blood and amazingly conscious.
All four heroes gathered around now. "Let me see him." Sunny commanded. He laied his palm upon the mans brow and mumbled a prayer to the Lord of light. Some of the wounds began to heal. "I can do nothing more. It may not be enough."
Up close the mans attire looked even stranger then afar. His spear or lance was metallic but of an unknown metal. It was weighted at one end and had a red ruby like stone embedded in it. It pulsed faintly with crimson light. Along the whole length was a thin cable of wire that connected the red stone to the sharp tip at the business end. As a weapon it looked clumsy and frail. The mans breast plate truly seemed to have lines of light shining out of it. They were faint but gave off a constant glow. It didn't seem to have latches of any kind to link the front plate with the back but instead appeared to be one solid piece. Only the Gods knew how the contraption was taken off. Another odd piece of clothing was the dying mans belt. It was thick and seemed banded as if made from metal instead of leather. The buckle had silver glowing runes etched into its face in a circular pattern. Ten symbols in all. Lastly the mans face was partially obscured. His left eye and ear seemed to be of living metal. The eye was inhuman and glowed red like the spear. Its center grew and shrank as the heroes looked on. It was then that the odd individual spoke in perfect elfin.
"Must...protect the...book. Ta..to..cosmic...knights." The man reached up and grabbed Banes arm. "Take...to...to...Meg..megaverse...depends...on...yuoooo." With his last bit of strength the man pushed a book into Banes hands then slapped at his breast plate.
A wide beam of greenish light protruded from the center of the breast plate and seemed to touch all four heroes before fading. The man was dead.
