Riding his beautiful horse, Daring, Einhard looks at Mason. He eyes the Ranger over and smiles back. Yes, very good. I am sure you are an expert shot and would much good in the back. Solid plan!

The party continued on until they came to the edge of a clearing. In the distance was an old crumbling tower fort. At the entrance were two sentries. Being bandits they didn't look very alert even though it was approaching mid-day. One was propped up against the stone wall with his head resting against his chin while the second was off to one side lobbing stones into the woods. "Looks like they are still home." Friedrick whispered.

Einhard hardly cares to whisper as he rides up. While still out of earshot, Gray, Tidbit, Mason Cover us. With this, Einhard looks at Friedrick and rides Daring in hard, stopping before the Bandits in a fierce display of bravado, rising Daring to his back legs to show his beloved horse's agility and ability to land a quick hoof to the head. YOU! You Rogues! Be this the domain of Fire Brand!?!

The Paladin thought he heard a curse from behind him, but could not tell whom it was. Trusting his men to follow his orders he charges forward and issues his proclamation. The two bandits (both human) are so stunned by the appearance of an armored knight on a magnificent steed they both just stand frozen. After a three count Einhard frowns. Are they daft? he wonders. Then both men break into a run. The one skipping stones heads straight for the forest while the second darts around the curve of the tower leaving their posts and the Fort entrance unguarded.

They are not worth the effort. Einhard gets down from Daring. He takes his time to fasten his Lance and grab his wooden shield, before he sends Daring off with a firm slap. Einhard doesn't wait for Friedrick, he's sure to follow. Einhard pulls his longsword and faces the door, pulling down the visor of his helm. He tests the door to see if it is locked.

The door opens easily, but the inside of the tower has been open to the elements for some time. Stone stairs lead up to another floor that is for the most part non-existant. Trees and shrubs grow even here on the inside, if 'In' means a building with walls, but no roof that is. The place seems quiet. There must be more to this place then.

Looking within, Einhard sees the disheveled interior and realizes right away there must be more here. He turns to Friedrick, Empty. Call the others. maybe they can help. With this Einhard walks inside to the center of the "room" and takes in everything in finer detail.

The others come quickly and the party spread out, cautious of danger. Tidbit begins to slowly, ascend the almost ruined stone stairway with Gray close behind, bow at the ready. Friedrick takes the left and using his sword as a prod he begins poking around the rubble and even the shrubbery that now grows within the walls of this once great outpost. Mason heads right and for all the world appears to be studying the very grass that has replaced the wood flooring that rotted away years ago. leaving only straight ahead for the paladin, Einhard takes in the ruins one foot at a time not wanting to miss a thing. Mason quickly comments "There has been much foot traffic here of late. The grass is matted down by to many boots walking on the blades."
"Not much up here Mi'lord." Tidbit exclaims in a hushed voice while peering over the remains of the second floor. "There are a couple bedrolls laid out and a place for a small, improvised fire pit. What's this?" A moments pause. "Gray has found a coin purse with ten crowns in it."

None of this makes sense. Why would two Bandits be guarding an empty building? The purse doesn't sound right either. Doesn't make sense Gray. Keep looking gentlemen. There must be something we are missing. Einhard walks over to where Gray and Tidbit are. What do we have here?

If at all possible the second floor is in even worse shape then the first. Only it's stone flooring allowed it to survive this long. Whats left is more of a cat walk hugging the walls with the center no more then rubble below. Einhard's companions are standing at a slightly wider part of the floor. Indeed the paladin sees a make shift fire pit, two bedrolls and an improvised table made of an old crate with a wooden bowl containing some cheese and bread. It would appear the two men were camping here alone. Certainly not a large bandit gang. Tidbit hands the pouch over to his lord. "Gray found it close by hidden among the rubble. One of the bandits stash I presume?"
Einhard doesn't get the chance to comment.
"I found a door!" Friedrick announced. "It's hidden behind a shrub, but accessible. Looks like a cellar. Did this tower have a dungeon? It's locked."

Einhard turns to Friedrick testing the weight of the pouch in his hand. Everyone! Let us go to Friedrick! With this Einhard walks over to Friedrick, attaching the pouch to his belt. When he arrives to the door, he looks at with no change in emotion. Friedrick's question about the dungeon seems irrelevant to Einhard as of now, Can anyone unlock this?

Everyone replied with a no or a shake of the head. It would half to be forced open or another way in found.

Einhard walks up to the locked door. Behind me. He raises his right boot and kicks the door in.

The Ancient door cracks audibly, but fails to break even under Einhard's considerable strength.

The second kick was much more satisfying as a large plank came free and tumbled inward. The door could easily be unbolted now.
