With so many apponants he attacked defensively waiting for openings. Einhard tested the lead bandit, and his sword was blocked easily, but with little skill. The goblin with the morning star took the first swing, but the Paladin parried it effortlessly. (7 to strike, 24Parry) The next attacks came unexpectedly from the second row. He blocked a spear thrust with his shield, (5s, 20p) but the militery fork slipped by and lightly, pierced his side (18s, 15p, 4 damage). The goblin with the mace only managed to rap his shield (8 damage to shield), and the Orcs mighty great sword drew sparks from Einhard's sword when they met. Lastly the human tried to skewer him with his short sword, but the man's obvious lack of skill proved futile against Einhard's shiled(3s, 14p). Now that Einhard had sized them up he attacked the strongest apponant, the sword wielding orc. His thrust was clean and true, stabbing deep into the greenskin's gut (11d). Still alive the orc dropped his weapon and staggered back into his comrads, desperate to escape.

Einhard swings, but his sword clashes on the bandits sword. The unskilled human is lucky. The goblin makes a good solid block as well, before the Paladin is once again put on the defensive. The mans lack of skill resurfaces with an attack so weak he loses the grip on his sword (1s, CRITICAL MISS, 21p. Human loses primary weapon), the morning star toting goblin counters with another predictable swing easily stoped (4s, 8p), the next goblin gets through Einhards guard with a glancing blow against his ribs (12s, 10p, 6d roll with punch for half successful = 3d), last came the predictable spear thrust from the second rank, but Einhard swatted it aside (3s, 12p), Einhard returned the favor to the goblin that struck him by hacking into it's wrist ( 11d damaged hand -1pp, -2ps, drops primary weapon). The goblin darts out of the front line clutching it's bleeding wrist.

The next fifteen seconds were a blur. The Paladin found his stride and deflected all three attacks that came at him while his all found their marks. Throwing his shoulder into the goblin flanking him sent the greenskin flying back into his fellows. (3 damage + loss of 1 at), next his sword slipped passed the morning star carrying goblin's guard carving a deep gash into it's shoulder. (11 damage, arm imobilized) The creature squealed and dropped it's weapon as black blood pumped from the wound. Lastly, the spear brandishing Orc fell with a sword thrust to the neck when he was distracted by the two wounded goblins crashing into him. He slumped to the ground without a sound. (critical hit, 24 damage. death)

The Paladin faired well for the next few seconds. he blocked all 3 attacks effortlessly with sword and shield (17, 23, 17). While delivering wounds to both the dagger toting human (20 to hit, 14 parry, 5 damage) and the elf (9 to hit, 6 parry, 4 damage to soft leather armor AR 10).
After losing his sword before, the bloody gash he now sported on his arm proved enough for the human. He turned and bolted down the stairs.

Einhard continued his forward momentum. Blocking a poor strike from the lead goblin (8 strike, 10 parry) he retaliated with his sword cutting a deep gash in the greenskins throat. (11 to hit, 8 parry, 11 damage Dead). Next came the Elf slashing with his long sword, but the Paladin was ready and deflected the blow on his shield (9 to hit, 9 parry, 7 sdc to shield). His riposte came under the elf's guard drawing blood from his side (22 strike, 16 parry, 8 damage). Then the God of Light showed his favor when Einhard was able to knock the military fork being lunged at him repeatedly by the annoying man in the second row. The pointy tines meant for him, instead impaled the orc running up to engage him. (1 to strike CRITICAL MISS, plus NATURAL 20 to Parry = orc getting skewered for 2d4+2x2=16 damage by his buddy. DEAD.)
With the Orcs unexpected death the rest of the bandits wounded or otherwise broke and ran down the stairs into the great room. Only the dead and dieing remained.
The way was finally clear.

Now that the way was cleared Einhard looks for Fire Brand.

Einhard stepped into the great room that he had seen from the balcony above. The bandit rabble that he had just fought were scattered around the room licking their wounds or cowering. On the far side his party had already gathered at the bottom of their flight of steps as well. None of the bandits attacking them appeared to have survived. It seemed his men didn't give much quarter when he wasn't there to guide them. No matter. Not many followed the codes of conduct Einhard adhered to. His squire may require talking to later though. The target of Einhard's driving force was fifteen feet away from where the Paladin now stood. He swung his great bronze axe lazily through the air with a mighty whoosh. A massive whip hung at his belt and the giants muscles rippled under the bronze breast plate and leg grieves. Fire Brand grinned fiercely. "You look tired Knight. Care to rest for a bit?"

Einhard casually walked toward Fire Brand. He didn't give the villain a chance to goad him into getting mad. He kept a calm demeanor. Fire Brand! It ends now! I am here to bring you in! As Einhard reaches thee bottom of the stairs, he begins a silent payer to the Lord of Light to give him the needed strength to bring Fire Brand to justice.

Einhard's cohorts fanned out slowly. At a glance some looked wounded though none mortally so. They appeared on guard not making a move to attack anyone. The bandits to seemed content enough to stand back and let things play out. Meanwhile FireBrand stretched his neck to the side with a thunderous CRACK and readied himself. "Are you asking me to surrender little knight? To your human kingdom of Timiro? The same kingdom that enslaves orcs, goblins, Ogres and any other non-human that they disapprove of? Nay little knight. I fear only a quick death awaits me there. Deny it?"

Einhard, his blade glistening with blood looks up into his adversary's eyes, This has nothing to do with politics for me, villain and needless slaughter is not my way. I am here to bring you to justice, for the innocents you have brutalized. Do not attempt to dissuade me with claims of retribution. Everyone present knows, you are nothing but a THUG! Now, if we must battle, SO BE IT!

The giant attacked with a roar and swung his axe in an overhead two handed swing. Prepared for the brigand to come at him the knight used an old technique he learned from his sword master about fighting larger opponents. Sliding ever so slightly to the side once FireBrand was committed he crouched and then stood quickly with all his strength and weight behind his blade that was held outstretched to the side of his body, but with arms bent and tight to his chest. The combined force of Firebrand's downward momentum with Einhard's maneuvering his blade to cut just behind the axe head cut through the thick, wooden shaft. The head slammed into the stone floor inches from the knights feet and then careened wildly away from him to crash into the large table. (CRITICAL MISS 1, 21 to Parry). With the Giant abruptly disarmed Einhard lunged forward and in two mighty strides slashed at Firebrand's tree trunk sized leg with his already upraised sword. Unable to defend himself (24 strike, 3 parry with stump) the Bandit king gave a mighty howl of pain. (10 damage). Finding his enemy behind him FireBrand was forced to step away from the knight. While he did so he pulled both his giant sized cutlass and whip from his belt and turned to face Einhard once again (Loss of 1 AT to draw weapon. wasted parry 9). Einhard took advantage of the giant while he spent moments drawing new weapons. Leaping on the table before swinging his blade FireBrand wasn't prepared to defend himself from such an angle (14 strike, 14 parry) and failed to block the sword slash to his side. (11 damage). Angry now the Giant swatted at Einhard with his whip, but the knight was too close for such a weapon to be of any real threat. (Strike 9, Parry 11).

Coming around with the sword Einhard blocked the blade with his shield (15 strike, 15 parry. 14 sdc from shield), The blow was powerful enough to stagger the Paladin and he hopped off the table slicing at the giant as he went 17 strike, 10 parry, 6 damage). FireBrand roared in frustration and brought his blade down in an overhead strike but, it was deflcted by Einhard at the last second with ease. (12 strike, 24 parry), The knight lunged his sword into The Fire Giants meaty thigh up to the hilt (Natural 20 CRITCAL, 21 Parry, 28 damage). Blood poored from the wound when the sword was pulled free. (1/2 spd, -1 dodge), Furious and in pain FireBrand sreped back and lashed Einhard with the giant whip, but the knight rolled to the side to lessen the blow, (21 Strike, 14 Parry, 23 roll success!, damage 14 -1/2=7), Einhard retaliated with another blow to the left leg (23 strike, 12 parry, Damage 11). Both warriors broke away and began to circle.

GIVE UP, BANDIT! Einhard Barks, looking the giant in the eyes, FACE JUSTICE, BEFORE YOU DIE! Einhard raises his sword over his head, pointing at Fire Brand, stopping, ready to attack.

FireBrands eyes flicked to his men. One goblin was brave enough or afraid enough to come to his aid. Lifting a short bow and aiming at Einhard the goblin never had a chance. He was pin cushioned as shaft after shaft from both Gray and Mason struck the would be attacker. That was the last help the Bandit King would get. The Giant lunged forward on the attack once more.

Time seemed to slow down as the battle became crystal clear in the Paladin's eyes. The giant lunged, but Einhard was quicker. Stepping to the side he slashed FireBrands knee. (13 Strike, 8 parry, 10 damage). The giant stumbled and took a swipe at Einhard, but the attempt was feeble (10 strike, 23 parry with sword), Again Einhard struck aiming for the same leg and raked yet another gash (21 strike, 16 parry, 14 damage). FireBrand growled in pain and snapped his whip, but Einhard's sword was everywhere at once now fouling the attack (18 strike, 24 parry). A third sword strike by the palladin this time to the Fire Lords mid section (21 strike, 4 parry, 7 damage) and the giant staggered back on the defensive. He was breathing heavy, gulping in great quantities of air.
